Rocky Mountain National Park has several notable mountain ranges that are frequently mentioned in forecasts and posts by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver. These include the Medicine Bow Mountains, Never Summer Mountains, Rabbit Ears Range, Mummy Range, Indian Peaks, Vasquez Mountains, Elkhead Mountains, Mosquito Range, Tenmile Range, Elk Mountains, West Elk Mountains, Huntsman Ridge, Battlement Mesa, Pikes Peak Massif, and Sangre de Cristo Mountains.

In 2024, new additions mentioned by the NWS include the urban corridor and the Wet Mountains. These geographic features are key reference points for weather forecasting in central and northeast Colorado.
